Service & Social Justice
Volunteer through STM’s Solidarity in the City Program
Solidarity in the City (SiC) is a student-centered program that brings together faith, service, and social justice. Rooted in Catholic Social Teaching, SiC fosters mutual support and inspiration as students reflect on their experiences of service, advocacy, and justice.
Assistant chaplains host a monthly gathering over dinner where students pray, reflect, and discuss how God is at work through their encounters with neighbors who are marginalized, vulnerable, and underserved. Through shared reflection, students are invited to discover deeper meaning, purpose, and God’s ongoing call in their lives.
Students are encouraged to serve at least one hour per week in the New Haven community—whether through STM community partners listed below or through other Yale-affiliated service groups—and to participate in monthly SiC gatherings to integrate a faith perspective into their service.
