Reading Groups
STM hosts a variety of reading groups that explore specific areas of study and their connection to Catholic life. These groups meet monthly, typically over a meal, to discuss readings that are current, thought-provoking, and manageable alongside a busy course load.
Grad Women's Spirituality Group
Grad Women’s Spirituality is open to all grad students, post-docs and professional residents. Each semester, the group reads one book related to women’s spirituality in the Christian context. At times, the participants read thought-provoking theological texts, and other times, they read fiction books that connect spiritual themes to their lived experience.
Faith & Poetry Reading Group
Led by Yale students, Faith & Poetry participants are invited to read, meditate on, discuss and pray with a particular poem during the session.
Faith & Policy Reading Group
Faith & Policy is led by Yale students. This reading group provides STM members with a forum to discuss policy and law in light of their Catholic faith through news articles and catholic social teaching resources.
Women Reading Theology
Women Reading Theology is a gathering of intergenerational Yale women. The group meets to discuss theology written by contemporary Catholic women.
Bible Study
Bible Study is a weekly exploration of Sacred Scripture led by Fr. Joe MacNeill that invites you to deepen your spiritual life and broaden your understanding of the Word of God. Whether you are opening the Bible for the first time or returning to it with years of experience, this study offers a welcoming, supportive space to reflect, ask questions, and grow in faith alongside fellow students.
Faith & Ecology
Faith & Ecology is a multifaceted group that utilizes readings, speakers and outdoor activities to engage participants in conversations and experiences that bridge their Catholic faith with environmental justice and care for creation.

New reading groups form each semester. For more information about one of our groups or how you can join contact Pauline Little, Assistant Chaplain.
