All students, faculty, staff, and other interested persons—of all political leanings and faith persuasions or none—are invited to participate in this reading group. Together we will explore fresh possibilities that the concept of “the Common Good” can open within our polarized political discourse. We will meet biweekly on Fridays for lunch to discuss the ideas provoked by our reading of a chapter in Human Dignity and Liberal Politics: Catholic Possibilities for the Common Good by Patrick Reardon, an Oxford University professor of Political Philosophy and Catholic Social Thought. 1/22: read Chapter 7 (pp. 136-155) in advance.
