Alternative Spring Break Trips 2025

The 2025 Saint Thomas More Alternative Spring Break (ASB) offers Yale students the chance to participate in a formative, faith-centered, and life-changing experience. This year’s trips focus on a variety of important issues, including Catholic Social Tradition, street and youth ministry, care for creation, economic justice, martyrdom, and more.

Destinations:

 El Salvador (March 9-17, 2025)

Join us in El Salvador to walk in the footsteps of St. Oscar Romero. Visit the places where he lived and worked, and learn about those who gave their lives protecting the people. Celebrate Mass in the chapel where his ministry tragically ended, and witness how his legacy endures in the people of El Salvador who continue his mission, finding love and joy amidst daily struggles. Walk the path of the martyrs of the 1989 La UCA massacre, and immerse yourself in the rich food and vibrant culture of Central America.

Jamaica (March 9-15, 2025)
Join us on an adventure that goes beyond Jamaica’s stunning beaches and reggae music. Forge new friendships as you hear stories of resilience and hope that shape this vibrant and diverse island. We’ll be welcomed by the dynamic Catholic community in Montego Bay, who will share their ministries with us—ranging from street outreach and hospice care to supporting youth with developmental disabilities, education, and care for creation. Together, we’ll explore the social, political, and economic challenges that connect Jamaica to the U.S. We’ll share meals, celebrate, and pray with our hosts, building bonds of global solidarity with our brothers and sisters in this beautiful Caribbean island.

Eligibility:

These trips are open to current Yale undergraduate and graduate/professional students. Both for logistical reasons and to foster a meaningful small-group dynamic, the size of the groups is strictly capped and will be selected on the basis of competitive application.  Applications must be submitted by 11:55pm on November 4, 2024.
