We should listen to today’s readings with our minds and hearts. Something that the wicked didn’t do in the first reading. They don’t want to accept what they are hearing. They are questioning everything and saying “What does he know?”
The law was designed by God to make us happy. Think of how the world would be if we listened to the call of God to be good people. But unfortunately, like those in the first reading, we often turn away from God’s law. In doing so, we turn away from God and God’s love. Let’s turn back to God sometime today. What would it take for you to do that today?
In the Gospel, Jesus tries to turn us back to God by going to Judea, knowing it is not safe for him to go. But still he cries out and teaches in the temple area. He wants us to know him and the Father. He reminds us that he has not come on his own, but comes in the name of the one who sent him.
As we move closer and closer to the last week of Lent, let’s recognize with humility that God is our creator and give God glory by praying a “Glory be.” And may we remember that all good comes from God and give thanks for those blessings. May we hear Jesus teaching in the temple area and turn back to God and say “Lord I want to know your mercy and love!”
